I have a general private practice in Edmonton where I see individual adult and teen clients. I also offer group experiences, courses, and workshops, and I write about mental health from a feminist counselling perspective. At this time, I do not offer counselling services to children (12 and under) or couples. Please also note that as a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Alberta, I am only able to offer direct counselling services to residents of Alberta.
Location
My current address is: Transcend Psychological #506, 8215- 112th Street Edmonton AB, T6G 2C8
Please note that I will be moving to a new office in June 1, 2023 at: #210, 1524 91 St SW Edmonton, AB T6X 1M5
I work, live, and write on land that is Treaty 6 Territory, a traditional gathering place and meeting ground for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Nêhiyawak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux, and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our vibrant community. As an act of reconciliation and decolonization, may we work together to answer the TRC's Calls to Action: Truth & Reconciliation Commission Reports and Findings.
Telepsychology Services
I'm offering a mix of telehealth and in-person appointments at this time, with the in-person spots being available on Wed Fri and Sat only, and the telehealth spots being available Tues-Sat (between 9am-3pm). I have offered video counselling for years and have now taken additional training to offer somatic therapy via a secure telehealth platform. I believe I can confidently offer my support through these means.
Fees
The cost of the initial session is $220, and usually lasts about 65 minutes. This allows us enough time to go over what you’re most hoping for from counselling, what you can expect from me, where you might feel stuck, and to begin to form a collaborative plan of how best we can work together. After our first meeting, ongoing sessions are $200 and they are 50 minutes in length. This is in close alignment with the recommended fee schedule of the Psychologist Association of Alberta. The recommended fee schedule can be found here.
Psychologists' fees are not covered by Alberta Health Care, but they are covered by many employee benefit plans such as Blue Cross or Canada Life. I am able to direct bill to some of these plans, depending on the unique plan. It’s always best to check with your individual health benefit plan to find out about the available coverage you have per year and the possibility of direct billing.
I have a number of spots reserved for clients who pay a reduced rate. At this time, all those spots are full. Please know that many other therapists in the community offer reduced fee rates, including a number of my current and former supervisees. Please feel free to have a look at the list I’ve created of other therapists and ask them directly if they offer a reduced fee rate, or if you’d like a specific recommendation based on the issue you’re coming into counselling with, you can shoot me an email and I’ll do my best to suggest someone that I think might be able to help.
Wait Times
Though it can vary, please expect about a one month waiting period from the time I first receive your email to the time I can offer you a first appointment. If the need is urgent, you may want to look into connecting with another therapist in the community. If you do email me, I'll aim to respond within 3 business days.
